Michael Kaiser proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 2000 to 2005, where he developed a deep sense of duty, teamwork, and resilience. While on active duty, Michael married his wife in 2003, and together they have two children.
Following his military service, Michael transitioned into a career as a firefighter, serving from 2008 to 2015, where he continued his commitment to helping others in critical moments of need.
From 2018 to 2023, Michael worked as a commercial site superintendent, honing his leadership and organizational skills. His passion for the outdoors and his dedication to helping others led him to founding VROP, where he is committed to connecting veterans through outdoor activities, fostering community, and supporting their journey to healing. Michael brings a unique blend of military, public service, and leadership experience to his role, helping to create meaningful, life-changing experiences for veterans.

Robert Kaiser
Robert Kaiser, a dedicated 41-year-old husband and father, has been happily married for 16 years and is the proud father of two sons, ages 15 and 10. As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Robert served with distinction for 13 years, completing multiple combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, where his valor earned him several commendations.
Medically retired in 2014, he continued to contribute through roles in recruiting and various leadership courses, further fueling his commitment to supporting fellow veterans.
Today, Robert remains deeply engaged with the veteran community, leveraging his experience to make a positive impact. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he finds joy in nature and takes immense pride in watching his eldest son shine on the baseball field.
Treasurer
Andrew Smith
Andrew Smith is an accomplished financial professional with extensive experience in both military service and financial management. He holds a Master of Science in Accounting and is a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM), making him well-suited for his role as Treasurer at VROP. Andrew served for 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Infantry Rifleman, including four combat deployments to Iraq, and 10 years as a Financial Management Officer.
As co-founder of VROP, Andrew is passionate about serving fellow veterans through outdoor activities that build camaraderie and promote healing. His love for the outdoors began in his youth as a Boy Scout, where he earned the prestigious Eagle Scout award, and continued throughout his military career as an Infantryman, where he developed a deep connection to the outdoors in challenging environments. He has since tackled iconic hikes like the Tahoe Rim and Appalachian Trails. These experiences inspire his commitment to providing veterans with meaningful, transformative adventures through VROP’s programs, helping them reconnect with nature and each other.

Tollin Toler
Tollin Toler brings a wealth of experience in both veteran-focused non-profit work and a distinguished military career. A Purple Heart recipient, Tollin served 12 years in the Marine Corps with multiple combat deployments, demonstrating his dedication to service. He holds a Bachelor’s in Aviation Science and a Master’s in Business Administration/Finance, complementing his military experience with strong academic credentials.
In his professional career, Tollin has successfully led operations for international companies, streamlined defense sector facilities, and managed large-scale campus operations at a non-profit research institute. Currently, he provides energy consulting for the Department of Defense and serves on the board of the Huntsville Association of Energy Engineers. He’s also an active member of the Joe Hooper Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH). With certifications as a Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Project Management Professional (PMP), and Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Tollin’s leadership, expertise, and commitment to veterans make him an invaluable asset to our organization.
